Committed to setting the standards for quality recovery residence treatment in Georgia

 

HISTORY The Georgia Association of Recovery Residences (GARR) was founded in 1987 out of a need to evaluate and monitor quality of care in a rapidly growing field of addiction treatment in Georgia. It was the first association to develop and maintain a standards system for recovery residence programs in the state.

PHILOSOPHY We believe in quality care for chemically dependant individuals and other persons needing recovery residence treatment. We believe that this can best be achieved through the creation and maintenance of standards designed for that purpose. We further believe that all people have the right to recover in an atmosphere which meets their special needs as well as their basic needs for safety, dignity and respect.

INTENT The intent of GARR is to:

  • Create, monitor, evaluate and improve standards and measure of quality for recovery residences in Georgia.

  • Maintain a forum for exchanging ideas, solving problems and providing guidance.

  • Provide community education about recovery residences and related topics.

BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

  • Being a member of a recovery residence association dedicated to continuing quality improvement.

  • Staying abreast of current trends and other matters affecting recovery residences.

  • Having input into decisions affecting recovery residences in Georgia.

  • Having access to an experienced membership for assistance in solving problems.

 MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA

  • Passage of initial evaluation and other scheduled evaluations by GARR Standards Committee.

  • Maintaining membership standards.

  • Staying current with membership dues.

GARR MEETINGS

GARR meets on the first Tuesday of every even month at 10:30 AM.

It is advisable to contact GARR prior to attending your first meeting in order to clarify meeting time and location as well as to get directions.

Alpha Recovery Centers is a member in good standing with the Georgia Association of Recovery Residences. When referring your client to a residential program or half-way house, please ask that facility to verify their credentials. Asking a program to verify their credentials protects you as a professional, and it protects your clients.
