When I came to Alpha, I was only a shell of a human being -- living with my Mom, not able to hold down a job, and scared to make any money at one because I knew what I probably would do with it.  I had some charges pending....granted not near as many as I deserved, but something had to give.  Almost immediately I started to feel better....the staff and residents at Alpha showed me love and understanding like I had never received before.  That initial compassion helped me to get a job, counseling and to slowly start feeling better about me.  It has been 4 years now and I am able to support my family and be a productive member of society.....but most of all, I love being me today.  I have lifelong friends today due to the things that Alpha taught me.  I met and married a wonderful woman due to the things that Alpha taught me.  There are so many things that I have today because of the life skills that Alpha gave me.  Most of all.....I never have to do drugs again.....that's an awesome statement to me.  Today, life is life....good and bad.....I never have to use over any of it......and as good as I feel today....it's only just begun.

I had been seeking help for my addiction for 30 years without much success--relapse was the story of my life.  Over the years I attended 14 inpatient programs of varying lengths of stay,  several outpatient programs and what seems like innumerable detox's with every intention of following up with meetings and a resolve to stay clean.  Alpha Recovery was hands down the best of them all.  When I got to Alpha, I was as broken and hopeless feeling as I could be, but it was no different than any other time I felt at the end and sought help.  What I'm trying to say is I don't think it was my circumstances that were worse or different that catapulted me into recovery but it was the loving approach and help that I received at Alpha that has made the monumental difference in my life.  My experience there was incredible--not easy, but absolutely life changing.  The staff and counselors were the best I've ever had--and available 24/7--I have never before been given my counselors cell phone number but at Alpha I was.  There was nothing I was unable to get help with.  I was taught things about recovery and myself that I had never heard before--or if I had heard it before it was never explained how to apply it to my life like it was at Alpha.  I was taught how to live, how to be a person with integrity.  I have been clean a miraculous 6 1/2 years and am so grateful to Alpha for the beautiful gift of life they gave me.

I am a recovering meth addict - I was addicted to meth for several years but the last three of which were by far the worst - once the downward spiral began, there was no stopping it - so after many attempts to stop using on my own, my using was interrupted by law enforcement - at that point I was willing to try anything - I arrived at Alpha Recovery in handcuffs, completely broken - I was desperate to find something that would work - I couldn't bear to live another day like I was - God placed me at Alpha for a reason - it was the one and only place that was going to help me get better - the staff at Alpha was so kind and patient, yet not afraid to tell me what I needed to hear - it wasn't easy by any means, but I did get better - I received so much therapeutic interaction, which is what I believe Alpha has that other recovery centers do not - I was able to process through the pain of my past in a loving environment - I learned how to love and care for myself and others and how to live a whole new life, free from the use of drugs - I know that if it weren't for Alpha I wouldn't be alive - I did have to do the work myself but they gave me the guidance that I needed - I am forever grateful for Alpha and I have been clean since I entered their door –
